Cost of Assisted Living in Metro Atlanta (2026)

Last updated: January 2026

Assisted living in Metro Atlanta averages $3,000–$8,000 per month in 2026. The base rent covers room, meals, and community services; personal care (help with medications, bathing, dressing, mobility) is usually billed as a tiered add-on. That means the advertised "starting at" price rarely reflects what a family actually pays — total cost depends on care needs.

Assisted Living Cost FAQs

Does Medicare pay for assisted living in Georgia?

No. Medicare does not cover the room, board, or personal care costs of assisted living. Medicare only covers short-term skilled nursing (up to 100 days after a qualifying hospital stay). Georgia's CCSP and SOURCE Medicaid waivers can help pay for personal care services in assisted living, but not room and board.

What's the difference between assisted living and a personal care home in Georgia?

In Georgia, an Assisted Living Community (ALC) is licensed for 25+ residents and can provide medication administration by certified staff. A Personal Care Home (PCH) is licensed for 2–24 residents and offers a smaller, home-like setting. See our Personal Care Homes cost guide for details.

How much are care level add-ons?

Most Metro Atlanta communities charge $400–$3,000/mo on top of base rent based on a care assessment. Some communities use an all-inclusive model that folds care into the base rate.
